Frequently Asked Questions

Find practical answers to questions about wax melts, scent strength and choosing a suitable warmer. For advice about a specific product or order, contact us.

What is the difference between wax melts and candles?

Wax melts are scented wax without a wick. They release fragrance when heated in a suitable warmer. Candles have a wick that is lit to burn the candle. An electric wax warmer does not use a tealight flame, while a tealight-powered warmer does. Follow the instructions for whichever product you choose.

How do I use a wax warmer?

First check that your warmer is designed for wax melts. Follow the warmer manufacturer's instructions and the wax melt label for the amount of wax, heat source and operating time. Place the recommended amount in the dish without exceeding its fill limit, then operate the warmer as instructed. Turn it off or extinguish the tealight as directed when finished, and allow the warmer and wax to cool before handling.

How much wax should I use?

There is no single cube count that suits every melt and warmer. Melt sizes and dish capacities vary. Use the quantity recommended on the product label and warmer instructions rather than a fixed room-size rule. If those instructions are missing or unclear, ask us before using the product.

How do I change the fragrance?

Turn off the warmer or extinguish its tealight and let it cool. Remove the old wax and clean the dish using the method recommended by the warmer manufacturer. Do not pour wax down a drain. Add the next fragrance only when the dish is ready for use according to those instructions.

How do I choose a scent strength?

Use the fragrance description to choose scent notes you enjoy, rather than assuming a particular scent family will always be stronger. Perceived strength can vary with the fragrance, room size, airflow, warmer and personal preference. We do not assign a universal strength rating or guarantee the same fragrance intensity in every room. If you prefer a subtle fragrance, contact us for help choosing from the current range.

What if the fragrance feels too strong?

Stop heating the wax according to the warmer instructions and ventilate the room if needed. Let the warmer cool before handling it. For a future session, use a smaller quantity only if the product and warmer instructions permit it, or choose a different fragrance. If the scent causes discomfort, stop using it.

What if the fragrance feels too subtle?

Check that the warmer is suitable for wax melts and is being used as instructed. Consider the room size and airflow, and check whether fresh wax is needed. Do not increase the heat, use a different tealight size or exceed the fill limit to boost the scent. If you are unsure, contact us with the melt name and warmer model.

Can I use wax melts in an oil burner?

Only use an oil burner for wax melts if its manufacturer or product instructions explicitly allow it. Some Classic White Oil Burners in our Wax Warmers collection are described as suitable for fragrance oils and wax melts, but that does not establish compatibility for every burner. Follow the instructions for wax use; do not substitute fragrance-oil instructions.

Can I use wax melts in an electric warmer?

Check that the electric warmer is designed for wax melts and that its instructions allow the type and quantity you plan to use. We cannot confirm compatibility with every model. Follow its fill limit and operating instructions, or contact us with the model details if you need help.
